Top 5 places to have your intimate wedding

Let’s face it, the state of the world has forced many to reprioritize their gatherings. Weddings with hundreds of guests don’t seem as doable anymore. To be honest, I’m completely alright with this shift since I’ve always preferred the vibe of smaller intimate weddings. 

As you’re searching for ways to make your day impactful yet smaller, here are a few ideas of where you can have your intimate wedding. 

1. Family Home/Backyard — If you have a parent or family member with enough space to hold 25 people, you can easily transform it into the magical wedding of your dreams. Think hundreds of twinkle lights and lanterns, a harvest table, and 25 of your favourite people. 

2. Restaurant — Funky restaurants and craft breweries are amazing spots to rent for your day. Since they are already set up for food service and maybe even entertainment, they are a great option for less planning and organizing on your part. Add your personal touches to the decor, say your I do’s, eat, drinks, and dance — all in one amazing location.

3. Airbnb — Renting an entire dream house is just a few clicks aways! Choose an urban contemporary home with white walls and stainless steel trimmings, or a country home with land that can be transformed into a lush and special spot for your day. Hire a caterer, a bartender, and a DJ, and you’re good to go.  

4. Cottage/Lodge — This is my dream spot for weddings because I love being by water. Ontario’s cottage country is filled with spectacular lakes — great and small. Picture a sunset ceremony by the lake with a backyard dinner under twinkling lights and a party around the bonfire. Sign me up!

5. Resort — Heading to the tropics for your wedding is a great way to keep it nice and small, while also getting to have an ocean-side wedding and vacation. Resorts will take care of you all week while you spend time with your small group of family and friends. The gorgeous landscapes are endlessly inspiring as backdrops for your beautiful wedding.
