Alyce & Chris
Although I love all of the couples I document on their wedding days, getting to photograph someone who is like extended family was a true joy. I’ve known Alyce since she was born; our mothers have been best friends their entire lives. My first job was babysitting Alyce and her two brothers. She is family.
Alyce’s father was the glue of their family. Ten years after his passing, everyone knew it would be an emotional day without him there.
Travelling to Jamaica for the wedding was a true honour. Since our families are so close, there was a familiarity that made me feel less like their photographer and more like a member of the wedding party. I even dragged my husband Jeff along (not that it was a hard sell considering how stunning Jamaica is).
The simplicity of the day matched the laid back vibe of Jamaica. Their son Kingston got ready with his dad and gave his mom a gift before the ceremony. It was a truly beautiful moment. As Alyce’s younger brother walked her down the aisle, there wasn’t a dry eye. Her father was represented in the best possible way.
Don’t take my word for it, here’s what Alyce had to say about their beautiful day:
“Our wedding day in Runaway Bay, Jamaica turned out to be exactly how we had dreamed it. From the weather, and back drop, to the amazing people who joined us or helped create and capture our visions and went above and beyond our hopes and expectations. It truly was a beautiful day and everything fell into place perfectly. The ocean behind us and natural beauty of the island made for the most memorable pictures and experience. One we could never recreate but will always cherish.”
